Lifetime Warranty
A Lifetime Warranty Built for Texas Weather
Every metal roof, seamless steel siding job and seamless gutter system we install comes with a written Texas Metal Panels lifetime warranty on both materials and workmanship. It lasts as long as you own the home, transfers once to the next owner and is not prorated. Here is what it covers, what it doesn’t, and how to use it.
- 26+ years in business
- Lifetime warranty
- Free written estimates
What does the lifetime warranty cover?
It covers the materials we supply and the way our crews install them. If either fails under normal North Texas conditions, we fix it at no charge for parts or labor.
Workmanship: how it was installed
- Leaks at flashing around chimneys, walls, skylights, vents and valleys
- Seams, clips and fasteners that loosen, back out or let water in
- Ridge caps, trim and closures that pull away
- Siding panels and trim that buckle or loosen because of how they were fastened
- Leaking gutter seams, loose hangers and gutter runs hung without enough slope
Materials: what was installed
Defects in the panels, coil, trim, gutters, fasteners and underlayment we supply are covered, including rust-through and paint that peels, cracks, or fades and chalks beyond the finish maker’s published limits. When a defect traces back to a manufacturer, we file and manage that claim and do the replacement labor ourselves, so you deal with one company.
Behind our coverage sit the manufacturers’ own warranties, which we register in your name. On steel roofing that typically means a Galvalume substrate warranty against perforation (often 45 years for bare AZ55 panels and 50 years for painted AZ50) plus a Kynar 500 (PVDF) finish warranty from the coil supplier.
Which projects carry it?
The lifetime warranty applies to metal roofing, seamless steel siding, seamless gutters and the metal soffit and fascia installed with them. Asphalt roofs, window installations and repair-only jobs carry the terms written into your proposal, because those products come with manufacturer warranties structured differently.
How long is lifetime, and does it transfer when I sell?
Lifetime means for as long as you own the home. When you sell, the full coverage transfers once to the buyer, who keeps it for as long as they own the home.
To transfer it, email us the closing date and the buyer’s name and contact details. We issue a new certificate in the buyer’s name and help move any manufacturer warranties that need their own paperwork, since some must be transferred within a set period after the sale. A documented, transferable warranty also helps the sale itself: buyers, inspectors and insurers all ask how old the roof is and who stands behind it.
What can void or limit the warranty?
Mostly events and work outside our control. The warranty does not cover:
- Storm and impact damage. Hail, wind beyond the system’s rated limits, tornadoes and falling limbs are homeowners-insurance matters.
- Work by others. Satellite mounts, solar racking or vents cut or fastened through the roof or siding without coordinating with us.
- House movement. Foundation shifts on expansive clay can pull fascia and gutters out of line. We’ll quote the adjustment, but it isn’t an installation defect.
- Corrosive contact. Copper, pressure-treated lumber, harsh cleaners or close-range pressure washing against Galvalume or painted steel.
- Neglect. Gutters left clogged until water backs up under the drip edge, or branches left grinding on the roof.
- Consequential damage. Interior finishes and contents fall under your homeowners policy; we document the cause for your claim.
Coverage begins once the contract is paid in full. Oil canning, a slight waviness in flat areas of steel panels, is a trait of the material rather than a defect; we reduce it with striated 24-gauge panels and a flat deck.
How do I file a warranty claim?
Call or email us. We inspect, tell you in writing whether the problem is covered, and fix covered problems at no charge.
- Contact us at (469) 569-3956 or info@texasmetalpanels.com with your address and photos of the problem.
- We schedule an inspection, with active leaks first in line.
- You get a written finding with photos that explains the cause and whether it is covered.
- Covered problems are repaired at no cost for materials or labor, and we handle any manufacturer claim.
- If the cause is a storm or something else outside the warranty, you get documentation for your insurer and a written repair quote, and the decision is yours.
How does it compare with other warranties?
Many contractor labor warranties run one to ten years, and manufacturer finish warranties cover the paint but often not the labor to fix it. Ours combines materials and workmanship for as long as you own the home.
| Question | Typical contractor labor warranty | Manufacturer finish warranty | Texas Metal Panels lifetime warranty |
|---|---|---|---|
| Who backs it? | The installing contractor | The coil or panel maker | Us, with manufacturer warranties registered behind it |
| How long? | Commonly 1 to 10 years | Often 30+ years, set by the maker | As long as you own the home |
| Installation errors? | Yes, during the term | No | Yes |
| Material defects? | Rarely | Finish only: fade, chalk, peel | Yes |
| Labor to fix covered problems? | Yes, during the term | Often limited or excluded | Yes, at no charge |
| Transfers to a buyer? | Varies | Often, with registration | Yes, once |
| Prorated? | Varies | Often, after an initial period | No |
A warranty is only as good as the company behind it. Texas has no state roofing license, and after big hailstorms out-of-town crews sign contracts and move on. Check for a local address, proof of insurance and a local track record. We have served North Texas homeowners for 26 years.
What do I receive when the warranty is registered?
At your final walkthrough we register everything and hand you a packet with what a buyer, inspector or insurer may ask for:
- A signed lifetime warranty certificate with your address and install date
- A product record: manufacturer, profile, gauge, color and finish system
- Manufacturer warranty registrations filed in your name
- Photos of the underlayment, flashing and fastening taken before they were covered
- UL 2218 Class 4 product documentation and a signed installation certificate for your insurer, which sets its own impact-resistant roof credit
Keep the packet with your closing documents. We also keep your project file for the life of the warranty, so a lost packet never slows a claim. For how long the roof itself lasts, see lifetime roofing in DFW.
Lifetime warranty questions
What does a lifetime roof warranty cover?
Ours covers the materials we supply and our installation workmanship for as long as you own the home: leaks at flashing and penetrations, seam and fastener failures, and manufacturing defects such as rust-through or paint that peels or fades beyond the maker’s limits. Storm damage is excluded.
Is the warranty transferable to a new owner?
Yes. It transfers once, in full, to the next owner. Email us the closing date and the buyer’s contact details, and we issue a new certificate in their name and help transfer any manufacturer warranties.
Does the warranty cover hail damage?
No. Hail and wind damage is a homeowners-insurance claim. Our Class 4 (UL 2218) metal systems resist impact far better than standard shingles, but very large hail can still dent steel, and many Texas policies carry cosmetic-damage exclusions. We document storm damage for your adjuster but never promise a claim outcome.
How long is the lifetime warranty on siding?
The same as on roofing: for as long as you own the home, transferable once. It applies to seamless steel siding and the trim we install with it, and covers both material defects and installation workmanship.
What voids a roofing warranty?
The usual causes are other trades cutting or fastening through the roof without the installer, an unpaid contract balance, corrosive contact such as copper or treated lumber against steel, and neglect like chronically clogged gutters. Storms and foundation movement are excluded rather than voiding coverage.
What is the difference between a manufacturer and a workmanship warranty?
A manufacturer warranty covers defects in the product itself, such as paint that chalks too fast, and often excludes the labor to replace it. A workmanship warranty covers how the product was installed, such as flashing and fastening. Ours combines both, so one call covers either problem.
Will adding solar panels void the warranty?
Not if the solar installer coordinates with us first. Standing seam accepts clamp-on solar racking that grips the seams without drilling through the panels. Penetrations made without our involvement are excluded, so call us before the solar crew arrives.
Do I have to do anything to keep the warranty valid?
Keep gutters reasonably clear, trim branches that touch the roof, and call us before anyone mounts equipment on the roof or siding. We handle registration at the final walkthrough, so there is nothing to mail in.
